Significant Contributions

Sorcha: A Solar System Survey Simulator for the Legacy Survey of Space and Time

Overview paper for the survey simulator Sorcha. I contributed to the development of the software, particularly in testing and fixing the linking algorithm miniDifi, developing example notebooks for colour determination, and improving logging functionality and documentation

Recommended citation: Merritt, S., et al., (in prep), "Sorcha: A Solar System Survey Simulator for the Legacy Survey of Space and Time", AJ

Predictions of the LSST Solar System Yield: The Four Major Populations

Paper that places yield estimates for NEO/MBA/Trojan/TNO populations within the LSST using Sorcha. I provided estimated colour measurements in LSST filters for all major populations that are simulated in this work

Recommended citation: Kurlander, J., et al., (in prep), "Predictions of the LSST Solar System Yield: The Four Major Populations", AJ

The Discovery and Evolution of a Possible New Epoch of Cometary Activity by the Centaur (2060) Chiron

Paper that looked at a newly discovered brightening event in the Centaur Chiron, investigating the cause via ring/disk/activity models with historical and newly obtained data. I provided code and discussion for measurements of the zeropoints and aperture corrections for the Gemini data in this work

Recommended citation: Dobson, M., et al., (2024), "The Discovery and Evolution of a Possible New Epoch of Cometary Activity by the Centaur (2060) Chiron", PSJ, 5 165

Analyzing the Onset of Cometary Activity by the Jupiter-family Comet 2023 RN3

Paper that looked at the newly active Jupiter-family comet 2023 RN3 through a variety of archival wide field survey data and newly acquired observations. I assisted in providing ZTF data for the analysis of this comet, as well as providing code to gain initial Af⍴ measurements

Recommended citation: Dobson, M., et al., (2024), "Analyzing the Onset of Cometary Activity by the Jupiter-family Comet 2023 RN3", AJ, 168 286
